Editing Shredder Settings

By default, the shredding level is set to 1 pass. However, to shred files even more securely, you can choose a higher number of passes.

Note:  The greater the number of passes, the longer it takes for Shredder to complete the task.

To edit Shredder settings:

1       Click the Settings button and click Cleanup.

2       Click the Shredder tab.

3       Select a shredding option:

Select Normal shredding (1 pass, quickest) to delete the file in one step.

Select DoD shredding (3 passes) to overwrite data with random numbers in three steps.

Select Enhanced shredding (7 passes) to overwrite data with cryptographically secure random number sequences in seven steps.

Select Gutmann shredding (35 passes) to overwrite data with a series of patterns in 35 steps.

Select a custom number of passes.

4       Click OK.
