Inserting Exif Information

You can insert text that has information about digital photos: Exif (Exchangeable Image File Format) information. You may want to use this as a caption for photos on your website.

To insert Exif information:

1        Click the Insert and Modify tab.

2        In the Insert section, click Picture > Photo Information.

3        In the Choose Image dialog box, locate and select the digital photo. Then click Open.

4        Click the pointer on the page to insert the text item.

After inserting the text item, you can edit the text and move and resize the text frame.

To insert Exif information about a digital photo on the page:

1        Select the digital photo on the page.

2        In the Insert section on the Insert and Modify tab, click Picture > Photo Information.

3        Click the pointer on the page to insert the text item.

After inserting the text item, you can edit the text and move and resize the text frame.

To extract the Exif information about a digital photo:

1        On the Home tab, click Inspector from the Page section.

2        Select the image on the page.

3        If necessary, click the Inspector’s Properties tab.

4        If necessary, click the + sign for the Image Details heading.

5        If the selected photo has Exif Information, double-click the Yes value. (If the photo does not have Exif information, the value is No and you cannot extract information.)

6        In the Edit Text dialog box showing the extracted Exif metadata, select the text, right-click the selection, and choose Copy. Then click OK.

7        On the Home tab, click Paste > Paste Text, and then click the pointer on the page to insert the Exif information.

8        As needed, move and resize the text frame.

Note:  Not all digital cameras create Exif information about digital photos (Exif metadata). With some professional image-editing software, you can edit and store search keywords in image files.
