Allowing or Blocking Network Access for a Program

There are programs that have valid reasons for accessing the network, such as Live Update. However, some programs can slow down your computer. This can become a problem if you have a slow Internet connection.

You can set permissions for programs that attempt to access the network. Changing a program’s status can limit or deny a program access to the Internet.

To change a network access status:

1       Click the Settings button.

2       Click Net Defense, then click the Application List tab.

3       Select the program and select an access level:

§       To always allow the program access to the network, select Allow.

§        To display a message that asks you if the program can access the network, select Ask.

§       To block the program from accessing the Internet, click Block.

4       When finished, click OK.
